In some aspects, these IEMs are brilliant; in others they need a LOT more development to make them even a 4-star product. Many of the CONs I list later are really PITAs, which is disturbing, because these IEMs have some great potential!PROs:* These are the first IEMs I've used whose supplied tips provide a good seal (which is CRUCIAL when using IEMs). I normally have to use SpinFit tips to get a good seal.* The available personalization software (Nura) is pretty good. You can use it to set up how you want these earphones to work. (More on this in the CONs section below.)* The adjustable noise cancellation works well.* The hearing customization is brilliant, and is the major selling point for these earphones. Use these with EQ and you can dial-in perfect sound. (While I was an audio engineer, I prefer a "fun" sound feel for personal listening.)* The in-ear fit and weight is very good. I don't have any problem with them falling out.CONs:* The supplied carrying/storage pouch is pitiful. I recommend getting one of these to protect the product - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D2D71M2 - Use the supplied pouch to store the "hard-wire" connection cable.* [Updated Oct. 25/2021 - The battery life for these can be abysmal. My experience using manual on/off mode has the battery going dead within a couple of days! So, in manual mode, you won't just be able to pick these up and use them whenever you want! I have found that the battery life is MUCH better if you use the AUTO off/on mode!! (Which works well for me.) Due to work demands, I hadn't used these in several weeks. I chuckled to myself when I picked the Nuras up today expecting them to be DOA. They came on and announced they were at 50% charge - amazing since when I last used them they were at 70% charge! Huzzah!]* The ability to control these IEMs thru touch is a great idea, BUT the sensitivity of the touch controls is soooo 'finicky', that using these can sometimes be a PITA.* The connector module in the center of the head cable can be uncomfortable if you use these while lying down on your back, even on a pillow. YMMV* When using these in "hard-wired" mode (instead of Bluetooth), the connector module sometimes gets loose enough that they stop working. The connector has a magnetic coupling, and there are about 8 contact points. So, if you even slightly move your head or body, you may have to remove and reattach the connection. [Updated Oct. 25/2021 I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I have found that several of the features do NOT work when the Nuras are NOT being used in BT mode!] Another PITA.* The proprietary charging cable can be a problem. If you lose it, or it gets damaged, you're boned.* Charging these (which may a frequent event) can be problematic. (Where I live has a fairly regular humidity level of 60%.) On the first attempt, even though they're supposedly fully charged, they sometimes lie. You have to disconnect them from the charging cable for a bit, and then charge them again. Another PITA. I'm concerned that with all of these bare contact points, any kind of 'corrosion' thru use is just going to worsen this connection problem. * The adjustable "immersion" setting is another brilliant idea to improve listening, BUT using it is problematic. I'll need to explain this. The amount of "immersion" can be adjusted thru the Nura app to whatever degree you want. BUT, using the touch controls on the earphones themselves to change the immersion mode needs work. If I was going to design this, I would have the immersion "off" go to whatever the minimum setting that has been chosen by the USER in the app. Likewise, I would have the immersion "on" go to whatever the maximum setting the USER has chosen in the app. In actual use, this is NOT what happens. Immersion "off" seems to always go to a mid-range setting of the APP's choosing, while the immersion "on" seems to vary at times, from either the last "on" usage OR to maximum immersion. Strange.Long story short - IF you can put up with all the shortcomings, you will like these IEMs. I think ALL of these problems (other than the loopy connector issues) could be fixed with software revisions. If that happens, and usage improves, I will try to update this review. After always buying inexpensive earbuds, I thought I'd bite the bullet and try something higher quality. I'm amazed at the difference, not just of the sound quality but of how well these cancel noise. I sit right under a noise vent all day and the neighborhood is also very noisy, but these cancel everything out. The battery life takes me all the way through a work day and then some. I can't recommend these enough. They're worth every penny. As far as earbuds and the adaptive EQ goes these are nothing special and you can achieve these same results, and in my case better, with a current model smart phone like the S21 Ultra. I have had Sony, Drown, Razer, Beats, Airpods 1 through Pros, Astros, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamics, Hifiman, and the list goes on. When stacked up against the Powerbeats Pro, which are my current daily drivers outside the house, the NuraLoops come up short in clarity and bass at higher volumes or with your own custom EQs.The loops do have some nice detail and a decent Soundstage for 3.5mm gaming but don't deliver anywhere else for me. If you crank the bass they get muddy and the underwater effect sets in. For the price I'd snag some Beats and play with the EQ as these don't do anything special on the BT bud front. The noise canceling mics also cause distortion and interference when listening to music and being around anything else.A pretty big let down as I was behind excited to try these after loving the style with the cable, which looks nice but only gets in the way and causes discomfort when seated. The 3.5mm adapter cable is also to short to be useful because it is run down your neck and back and around you to get to the source. All in all, pass on these unless a miracle slae drops them well below 100 dollars. I hope the true wireless and over ears are better and not just for people who haven't experienced better or don't/can't EQ their rig.I've had these headphones for a month now so I think that I have a fairly good idea of how well they work. For the most part the sound quality and noise cancellation is very good. For the most part wearing the headphones is comfortable (more on this later). for 80-90% of users this will suffice. This is where I have problems with the headphones.1. I want these to listen to music/podcasts/exercise instructions while working out. During a 60 minute spin session i will get VERY sweaty. So much so that the headphone in my ear get sweaty and they slip out as the only thing really keeping them in is friction. I've tried the different sizes to stop this and the "large" falls out the least but gets uncomfortable towards the end of the work out.2. The touch controls on the sides are too sensitive/don't work well in some situations. The first that I noticed was when I was shoveling snow from the sidewalks....it was -15F so hat was required. The hat triggered the controls randomly. Also when doing yoga/stretching (like downdog) my shoulders will sometimes brush the controls.3. This only happens when I'm walking outside wearing my sweatshirt. I'm not sure why but something causes the headphones to make a crackle and the bluetooth connection cuts in and out. It is weird as its only a 100ft walk from my car to the gym, but it happens every. single. time.I tried the Nuraphones sometime back and was blown away by how good they sound. Didn’t get them as they were way over my budget. Was really excited when I found out about the NuraLoop. So were they good? Yes and no. Yes because they sound brilliant and I can’t think of any earphone that sounds better . Probably the best I’ve heard. I felt like was right next to the artist in the studio. I discovered new instruments in tracks that I’ve been hearing for years. I love bass and these things satisfied my bass cravings. If you don’t like bass there is an option to reduce it. Before I get to the the No part of my answer you should know that Nura is aware of majority of the issues and a fix is on the way. The seal fit test does not work properly despite me trying many times with different tips. The smart dial option is great in theory but not in practice. Whenever I tried to adjust my earphones I ended up pausing the music or changing the social mode setting. Sometimes the earphones don’t wake up automatically when worn and it’s quite irritating. As these have a wire the fit is not great if you have them on while sleeping In bed. Also the wire is quite irritating when wearing a jacket. Guess true wireless earphones have spoilt me. The voice clarity is good on calls but the loops pickup a lot of background noise. My friend could hear what was happening in the next room. I ended up returning them and will wait for a true wireless product from Nura. If you can live with the above shortcomings you won’t be disappointed by the sound they produce. So I am on my second pair of Nuraloops and these have just failed after a couple of weeks.1st pairRight ear bud had distortion, returned.2nd pair1. Right button would occasionally start beeping for around 30 seconds causing the track to play then pause then play .... Like I was pressing the button.2. Can’t get any where near the 16+ hours. 9 hours max.3. While listening to music the Nuraloops restarted then continued to restart several times. Managed to power them down but now won’t reconnect. Crackling sound now coming through the ear phones. Battery was at 100%. Now totally unusable.Extremely dissapointed with all the issues because I absolutely love the sound these produce. The sound is rich and immersive, just brings your music alive. Much better than the Sony XM3 or Sennheiser Momentum 2 to my ears.Update. 14/10/2020It’s Prime day and decided to give these another try due to the exceptional sound quality. This will be my 3rd pair. I will update this review based on my findings. Hopefully there will be no issues.Update 15/11/20203rd pair just failed. The loops rebooted while out on a walk and now won't connect, crackling and buzzing sound in the background. Tried to hard reset as recommended by Nuraloop, made no difference. Same fault again! There is obviously a design fault or poor quality control with Nuraloop. While I absolutely love the sound, fit and controls the reliability is totally unacceptable.Avoid and wait for Nuraloop 2!I'll preface by saying that of course everyones ears and hearing is different and you may have a better result with these. I was very excited to receive these after reading so many rapturous reviews and saving to buy them.Firstly they where faulty. The touch controls on the right ear bud did not work at all, even after a reset. Also I could detect no sign of noise cancellation at any point, either it was faulty on my set or its just crap noise cancelling.Secondly I though that the neutral profile sounded better than my supposed personalised one during set up and after with my own music neither sounded that good. The difference between neutral and my profile wasn't all that distinct, I could hear what the eq was doing it made things sound a bit smoother but not really any better. The volume needed to be very loud for it to sound decent. Anything bellow 80percent volume the music sounded muddy. I found the sound muffled over all, and thought that the separation and clarity was not at all as good as it had been advertised, it was bad in fact. The immersion slider made the muffled feeling far worse. I take music listening and sound quality pretty seriously and these didn't sound near as good as my previous corded headphones at less than a third of the price. My feeling is that these are probably not for budget audiophiles like me despite the marketing to the contrary. I tried the hearing test set up a few times and got the same disappointing results. They don't sound awful but with all the advertising and reviews the let down was fairly large.Thirdly the fit. I tried all the ear tip sizes and could get a good seal quite easily the hooks over the ears work well. However after ten minuets with them in my ears started to ache badly. I wear headphones all day for work and these would just not be comfortable enough. My ears continued to ache even after I took them out.Hopefully my experience is an anomaly as I so wanted these to be good. Hopefully they won't be tricky about issuing the refund.Waited a while before getting these as the big brother, Nuraphones weren't quite my thing.Sound quality - 9/10 great balance. Good bass. Don't know why anyone would use these without immersive mode on though. Perhaps with audiobooks and podcasts?ANC - 9/10 Really good but probably not as good as over ear headphones. Cuts out most ambient sounds very well - cars, birds, motors, spouse! Might be one of the best for in ear phones?Touch controls - 7/10 very responsive. Maybe even too sensitive, however, you wouldn't want less sensitive sensors either - that would be frustrating. New firmware update gives you single, double tap control as well as dial control on each ear. It also gives you the option for manual switch off or auto, instead of only auto switch off when not in use.Comfort - 7/10 for me, the provided ear bud tips were not a great fit. They would slowly try to slide out wheni was eating due to jaw movement. Substituting some old ear bud tips works perfectly for me. Once you get a good fit, these are very comfy and can be worn for hours without discomfort. Will not come out when jogging or exercising if fitted well enough.Design - 7/10 I think they look good, and are a good quality build.Battery life: 9/10 charges in only 2 hours for an alleged 19 hours playback. Don't think I've got that much from them but they DO last WAY longer than any other wireless earphones I've had on a single charge. (Definitely over 10 hours). Worth getting just for the battery life.Bluetooth: v 5.0 connectivity is good but only marginally better than other BT5 0 phones I've had.Dislikes and gripes: when not in use, you can't rest them on your shoulders as the wire joining them is too short - they could easily fall off without you noticing. Also, the wire sits just at the bottom of your hairline and can get caught on your collar when turning your head which can be annoying. There's also friction sounds that get carried down the cable when moving - I'm not bothered by that but some might. You also can't rest them (or one side) on your shoulders as the touch sensors get activated by your skin. So when not in use, you need to hang them on your ear lobes instead. I haven't needed to use them with the provided wire for non-wireless mode but the connector being behind your neck might get a bit awkward at times. But having that option of wired/wireless is a game changer. I'd design headphones that can be worn like a necklace with connecting magnets. I even superglued some magnets on my previous Sennheiser earphones for that reason!Should you buy these? YES! I'm not disappointed and perhaps you won't be either.I loved the Nura Headphones (over ears) and was so excited when these came out.I finally pulled the plug and hoped to replace my AirPod Pros with these last month. The sound quality is great, I won't fault that, but you adjust to the quality quickly. Unfortunately I had to return them. What I found hard to adjust to was:- They aren't very comfortable for longer than 30mins OR when doing any form of exercise (including walking...)- I found the software to be quite buggy. Regular disconnects, hard to pair to another device. With AirPods you can seamlessly at any point switch from iPhone to Mac (for example). With these, you need to put them into discovery mode a certain amount of time after they are turned on. It's things like this that bug power users.- I don't believe the 'neutral' mode. When previewing your custom sound profile based on the scan the NuraLoops do on your ears (which is pretty cool), the Nura app offers you the ability to listen to any track of your choice in both 'neutral' mode and your custom sound profile mode. In neutral mode, ANY track sounds bad. It's as if they have turned all of the dials down (treble, bass, mids, reverb) to intentionally make it sound bad to increase the contrast of how GOOD the custom sound profile sounds. I'm no audiophile and stand to be corrected, but I think they are on the fiddle a little bit here.- The app is useless. Other than initial setup, I really don't see any benefit to the app.- The mic quality for phone calls is awful. People would report hearing a running stream in the background(?).As I said, the sound quality is fantastic and I cannot fault it. Great bass, mids, highs with superb balance across the range. Not a HUGE difference between these and the AirPods Pro (yes, really) but definitely better.Hopefully they release some updates and I'll happily repurchase.
